High Point Village
26 Jul 2006
High Point Village Resort is a Minocqua resort located at the edge of Bass Lake which is part of an extensive state and county woodland recreational system. It includes Timm's Hill, the picturesque highest point in Wisconsin. It is a wonderful place to enjoy the natural beauty of the Wisconsin northwoods. You might be a bit surprised when you step into Price County, pleasantly so with its numerous hills and ridges. Don't let the snow fool you, this is a year round spectacular.

Editor's note: During my first visit in the late winter of 2005, I just drove around, took photos, and basked in the sun of a beautiful winter day. In September 2006, and again in late December 2006, I took my wife and mother-in-law to stay there a few days. We stayed in the "Northern Sky" lodge, which has a terrific view of Bass Lake and Timm's Hill. With the fall scenery, it was breathtaking, so breath-taking that I am going to update my story on Timm's Hill with the fall photography of our walk around Bass Lake to go with the winter photos. I am going to do the same here. I will simply plug in the September and December 2006 photos to show the contrast. (010207)
Addendum: On March 3, 2007, High Point Village sponsored the "Timm's Hill Trudge," a snowshoe race through a course set up in the Timmi's Hill-Basllo Lake area. The race started at the High Point Village Resort at 10 AM and prizes, food and medals were awarded thereafter. The Village invited us to attend. Regrettably, we arrived too late, after the race was over, but in time for the awards. We took some photography of the ceremonies and have added those to this page below.

Late in the winter of 2005 we visited Timm's Hill in Price County, Wisconsin's highest point. While driving along Rustic Road 62 (RR62) we bumped into one great find, High Point Village, which has a direct look at Timm's Hill across Bass Lake. It is run by Kathy and Lyle Blomberg.

The opening photo is of the main building to High Point Village, a hotel, lodge, and a location for retreats, reunions, banquets, and weddings. It is open year round, and sits facing Bass Lake and Timm's Hill. The left side of this building hosts the reception and gathering areas, while the right side hosts the "Catch a Dream Inn," to wit, lodging. There are other buildings up the ridge to the rear, behind this building and to the left and right. Here are a few.

Bass Lake, across RR62, great for starting on a ski trail, or skating, snowshoeing, ice fishing in the winter, and boating and swimming in the summer.
